Nick Colvin, the President of i.e. Smart Systems

Upon graduating from Texas A&M in 2013 with a degree in Construction Science, Nick joined the family construction business with his primary responsibility targeting new opportunities and the management of key accounts. Within 4 years, Nick generated and managed nearly $50 million in revenue with increased growth across all market verticals including high profile strategic accounts such as British Petroleum (BP), Bechtel, Noble Energy, University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), University of Houston and General Electric (GE). During these years of business development, Nick focused on one major facet of business and that was earning and building upon the trust of our clients. It was this mindset for 4 years that contributed to i.e.Smart Systems’ continued growth and transitioned Nick to his next role overseeing the day to day operations of the firm.

Since late 2017, Nick has led i.e.Smart Systems to unify their vision to focus on earning their client’s trust by delivering results that bring both immediate and long-term value. With a client’s trust comes their confidence in our ability to deliver value on a repeat basis. Nick credits the i.e. Smart Systems team’s drive and desire in providing the best customer service in the industry to the company’s success. His focus remains on growing the company by investing more into his employees.

Nick uses the professional development approach of investing in the employees: LISTEN TO IDEAS – GROW PROFESSIONALLY – CULTIVATE SAFETY – ADJUST TO FEEDBACK. By providing an opportunity for each team member to be invested in individually, i.e. Smart Systems cultivates a unified vision and team, which then can provide the best solutions and service to clients.

Nick and his wife Loren call The Woodlands, Texas their home and are the proud parents of three boys, Bronson, Dominic, and Pierce, and an overly energetic German Shepherd named Drago. In true Texas fashion, Nick’s hobbies revolve around being outdoors and sports. Any opportunity Nick gets he loves heading to the coast to catch his next trophy fish. An avid sports fan, he enjoys rooting on his Fightin’ Texas Aggies and all Houston professional sports teams to their next championship.

q1 NICK COLVINThe leaders who work most effectively, it seems to me, never say “I.” And that’s not because they have trained themselves not to say “I.” They don’t think “I.” They think “we”; they think “team.” They understand their job to be to make the team function. They accept responsibility and don’t sidestep it, but “we” gets the credit. This is what creates trust, what enables you to get the task done. – Peter Druckerq2 NICK COLVIN
